Christmas is on the way and it’s time to brush up on using Flickr so that you can go create Christmas Cards without having to worry about copyright!
Step 1 – visit the Flickr site
Step 2 – select ‘search’
Step 3 – select ‘advanced search’
Step 4 – make the appropriate selections for the type of results you’re after, ensuring that at the bottom of this page you select ‘. If you intend to modify or change the image – including writing “Merry Christmas” across the picture, ensure that you also select ‘‘
Step 5 – view the results, when you find an image you like, check the license information (located towards the bottom of the page on the right side) to ensure that you can use the image in the ways you intend to.
Step 6 – download the image or html code as appropriate, acknowledge the creator, Flickr and that it’s been licensed under creative commons. You can see from my use above that it’s a little easier to site images if you can link back, but if you’re printing make the acknowledgement by writing the ‘<title> by <creator> licensed under creative commons <enter licence type> <Flickr url for image>’.
Happy Christmas card making!
