Happy Valentines day!!
Yes, some will be yours – particularly those licenced under a Creative Commons Licence.
Creative Commons images take out the hard work of copyright – particularly if your looking for images for educational purposes, public events, conferences or non-commercial publishing. One amazing resource for beautiful images is Flickr.com – a photo sharing site.
There are some really clever people that post to Flickr and many of the allow you to use their images for non commercial purposes – which includes teaching, research, University public lectures, conferences, blog posts (hm hm), Facebook sharing, etc. Generally, if this is the case, all you have to do it cite the image appropriately – Title, author, source and what type of Creative Commons licence it is being used under – see the images I have posted for an example.
The great benefit of Flickr is that there is a simple filter that allows you to search for items that are licensed under Creative Commons without having to check the conditions of use for each item. To learn how to use it, see here.
How’s that for a Valentine’s Day present?
