Mark Scott, Managing Director of the ABC gave a very interesting lecture last night at the University’s Institute for a Broadband Enabled Society. The lecture entitled Disruptions and Dividends: A Fast Broadband Australia looked at the implications of providing fast broadband to Australians. One of the key themes was the demand of Australians for immediate access to TV programs, often satisfied by downloading content via peer-2-peer because it is not accessible via legitimate sources. A transcript is available from the IBES website and is well worth a read.
